The vision of the Education Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP) in Rwanda is “to ensure Rwandan citizens have sufficient and appropriate competencies (skills, knowledge, and attitudes) to drive the continued social and economic transformation of the country. One of the 9 strategic priorities to achieve this vision is to have “Strengthened Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) across all levels of education in Rwanda to increase the relevance of education for urban and rural markets.” (Ministry of Education, ESSP, P.16).
It is in this regard that the United African Institute of Technology (UAIT) came in with a mission of promoting quality education especially in higher learning education, with an emphasis on TVET and STEM courses.
This institution which will be based in Kigali city plans to start with mechatronics and to introduce in the future some other courses namely Advanced Diploma and Bachelor in Mechatronics Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, Music Education, Computer Engineering, Cyber security, etc.
It will also offer certificates in different short courses like Korean Language, Computer, Music, Five Dimension Education, Heavy Equipment, etc.
